Georgia Governor Election: AP Projects Keisha Bottoms Wins

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · States · GSM News

The Associated Press projected on the evening of November 3 that Democratic candidate Keisha Bottoms has won the Georgia governor's race, defeating Republican Rick Jackson to become governor of Georgia.

When the AP made the call, 1,206 of Georgia's 2,582 precincts had reported, or 46.71%, with an estimated 75.07% of the total vote counted. Bottoms had 1,838,707 votes to Jackson's 1,485,437, a margin of about 353,000 votes. Counting is continuing; the figures are unofficial and final results are subject to certification by state election officials.

Bottoms is a former mayor of Atlanta. This year's Georgia governor's race was an open-seat contest; incumbent Governor Brian Kemp was not among the candidates.

The governor's race was held statewide on the same day as the federal Senate and House elections, with Atlanta as the state capital.
