Virginia Senate Election: AP Projects Warner Wins Re-election

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · States · GSM News

The Associated Press projected on the evening of November 3 that Democratic incumbent U.S. Senator Mark Warner has won re-election in Virginia, defeating Republican Bert Mizusawa.

When the AP made the call, 2,253 of Virginia's 2,529 precincts had reported, or 89.09%, with an estimated 74.55% of the total vote counted. Warner had 1,625,475 votes to Mizusawa's 1,125,619, with 7,700 write-ins. Counting is continuing; the figures are unofficial and final results are subject to certification by state election officials.

The Senate race was held statewide on the same day as the House elections, with Richmond as the state capital.
