West Virginia Senate Election: AP Projects Shelley Capito Wins Reelection

The Associated Press projected on the evening of November 3 that Republican U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito has won West Virginia's U.S. Senate election, defeating Democratic candidate Rachel Fetty Anderson to win reelection.
An AP results snapshot showed 1,061 of West Virginia's 1,642 precincts reporting, or 64.62%, with an estimated 84.24% of the total vote counted. Capito had 252,991 votes to Anderson's 166,504, a margin of about 86,000 votes. Counting is continuing; the figures are unofficial and final results are subject to certification by state election officials.
Capito was first elected to the Senate in 2014, becoming West Virginia's first woman U.S. senator, after about 14 years in the U.S. House. The win gives her a third Senate term. Anderson is an attorney and a former Morgantown city council member.
The Senate race was held statewide on the same day as the U.S. House elections, with Charleston as the state capital.
