Oklahoma Senate Election: AP Projects Kevin Hern Wins

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · States · GSM News

The Associated Press projected on the evening of November 3 that Republican candidate Kevin Hern has won Oklahoma's U.S. Senate election, defeating Democratic candidate N'Kiyla Thomas to win election to the Senate.

An AP results snapshot showed 1,665 of Oklahoma's 1,984 precincts reporting, or 83.92%, with an estimated 72.93% of the total vote counted. Hern had 531,732 votes to Thomas's 339,909. Counting is continuing; the figures are unofficial and final results are subject to certification by state election officials.

The seat was held by Markwayne Mullin, who left the Senate this year to become secretary of homeland security; the appointed interim senator, Alan Armstrong, is barred by state law from seeking the seat. Hern has represented Oklahoma in the U.S. House since 2018, was endorsed by President Donald Trump, and reached the general election after winning the June Republican primary.

The Senate race was held statewide on the same day as the governor's and U.S. House elections, with Oklahoma City as the state capital.
