Arkansas Senate Election: AP Calls Race for Cotton, Who Wins Re-election

The Associated Press called Arkansas's U.S. Senate race on the evening of November 3 for Republican incumbent Senator Tom Cotton, who defeated Democratic challenger Hallie Shoffner to win re-election. Arkansas is in the southern United States, and its capital is Little Rock.
The AP results page showed 2,740 of the state's 2,768 precincts reporting, about 98.99%, with an estimated 99% of votes counted; Cotton had 462,132 votes to Shoffner's 364,737, followed by Libertarian Jeff Wadlin with 28,146. Counting is continuing; the figures are unofficial and final results are subject to certification by state election officials.
Cotton was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2014 and took office in 2015; he is a member of the Senate Republican leadership. Shoffner, a farmer from the Little Rock area, was running for public office for the first time. With Cotton's win, Republicans continue to hold both of Arkansas's U.S. Senate seats.
