Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · States · GSM News

The Associated Press called New Mexico's governor's race on the evening of November 3 for Democratic candidate Deb Haaland, who defeated Republican Greggory Hull. New Mexico is in the southwestern United States, and its capital is Santa Fe.

The AP results page showed 1,225 of the state's 2,204 precincts reporting, about 55.58%, with an estimated 55.6% of votes counted; Haaland had 227,949 votes to Hull's 191,448. The AP declared Haaland the winner at 10:40 p.m. Eastern. Counting is continuing; the figures are unofficial and final results are subject to certification by state election officials.

Haaland, 65, a citizen of Laguna Pueblo, is a former U.S. secretary of the interior and former member of Congress. She succeeds Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, who was term-limited, and when she takes office in January 2027 she will be the first Native American woman elected governor of a U.S. state. Hull is a former three-term mayor of Rio Rancho.
