South Dakota Governor Election: AP Calls Race for Rhoden

The Associated Press called South Dakota's governor's race on the evening of November 3 for Republican incumbent Governor Larry Rhoden, who defeated Democratic candidate Dan Ahlers. South Dakota is in the north-central United States, and its capital is Pierre.
The AP results page showed 420 of the state's 671 precincts reporting, about 62.59%, with an estimated 59.34% of votes counted; Rhoden had 126,585 votes to Ahlers's 69,675. Counting is continuing; the figures are unofficial and final results are subject to certification by state election officials.
Rhoden took office as governor in early 2025, and this win gives him his first full term.
