First November Social Security Payments Land Today: Pre-May 1997 Beneficiaries and Dual Recipients Paid First

The Social Security Administration's (SSA) payment calendar shows the first round of November Social Security benefits was paid on Tuesday, November 3, to people who began receiving benefits before May 1997 and to those who receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). November 3 is midterm Election Day but not a federal holiday, so payments went out on schedule.
The month's other three rounds follow beneficiaries' birth dates: those born on the 1st through the 10th are paid on Tuesday, November 10 — one day early, because the usual second Wednesday, November 11, is the Veterans Day federal holiday; those born on the 11th through the 20th are paid Wednesday, November 18; and those born on the 21st through the 31st are paid Wednesday, November 25.
SSI has no separate payment date this month: because November 1 fell on a Sunday, November's SSI was sent early, on Friday, October 30. The next SSI payments arrive December 1, with another on December 31 covering January 2027.
Today's deposits are still at 2026 amounts and do not include the new cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). The SSA announced on October 14 that Social Security and SSI benefits will rise 3.6 percent in 2027: nearly 72 million Social Security beneficiaries will see the increase starting in January 2027, with the average retirement benefit rising about $75 a month, from about $2,095 to about $2,170; higher payments to about 7.3 million SSI recipients begin with the December 31, 2026 payment.
The SSA says beneficiaries can view their personal COLA notice in the Message Center of their my Social Security account starting in late November, up to three weeks before the mailed notice; to view it online, they must create the account and enroll in paperless notices by November 18, while paper notices will be mailed in December. Anyone whose payment does not arrive should first check with their bank and wait three additional mailing days before calling the agency at 1-800-772-1213.
