Portland Book Festival Builds to Its Main Day November 7 With More Than 100 Authors in the South Park Blocks

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · Events · GSM News

The 2026 Portland Book Festival, presented by the nonprofit Literary Arts, runs November 2-8 in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. According to the organizer, the festival builds to its largest gathering on Saturday, November 7, when more than 100 locally, regionally and nationally acclaimed authors convene in the South Park Blocks downtown.

Formerly known as Wordstock, the festival was founded in 2005 by Portland writer Larry Colton and revived by Literary Arts in 2015. The organizer calls it the largest festival of books and storytelling in the Pacific Northwest. After a sold-out event in 2025, this year's festival expanded into a multi-day celebration, with conversations at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, readings, workshops and pop-up events across the week, in partnership with organizations including the Oregon Symphony and the Portland Art Museum.

A companion Cover to Cover series runs at coffee shops, restaurants and bars around the city during festival week. The full schedule and pass information are on the festival's official site, pdxbookfest.org. (Source: Literary Arts and the Portland Book Festival)
