New York's Annual Holiday Donation Drive Underway: Toys, School Supplies and Coats Collected Statewide Through December 4

Wednesday, November 4, 2026 · States · GSM News

New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced on November 3 that the state's annual holiday donation drive is underway, collecting new toys, school supplies and new or gently used coats for New Yorkers in need. Albany, the state capital in Albany County, serves as the coordination center for the statewide collection.

According to the governor's office, the collection runs from November 2 through December 4, with the Capital Region collection extended through December 11. Residents can drop off new, unwrapped toys, school supplies and new or gently used coats at designated sites across the state. The state Office of General Services, led by Commissioner Jeanette Moy, coordinates the drop-off locations and the transfer of donated items.

The holiday drive is an annual year-end effort in New York. Collected toys and school supplies are directed mainly to children, while coats go to residents who need winter clothing. Drop-off locations and hours are listed on the drive's information page at ny.gov/new-york-states-annual-holiday-drive.

The governor's office notes that toys should be new and unwrapped, school supplies new, and coats either new or clean and gently used, so items can be distributed directly to recipient families.
