Indonesia: Manufacturing PMI Rises to 54.0 in October, a 31-Month High, as New Orders Grow Fastest Since October 2021

Indonesia's Ministry of Finance has commented on the strengthening of manufacturing activity in October 2026: the country's manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 54.0 from 52.4 in September, its highest level since March 2024. Acting Director-General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy Hidayat Amir said in a press release quoted on November 4 that the improvement was underpinned by the fastest growth in new orders since October 2021, alongside rising export demand.
Amir said the manufacturing expansion strengthens optimism about economic performance amid uncertainty, and that expansion recorded in several trading partners was a positive signal for the outlook for Indonesian export demand. In ASEAN, Thailand's PMI remained in expansion territory at 54.8, Vietnam's stood at 52.3 and Malaysia's at 51.0; India and Taiwan both recorded 54.9, and Japan 53.3.
He said the government continues to provide support by sustaining domestic demand, improving industrial competitiveness and creating a conducive investment climate, and will keep strengthening policies to sustain growth momentum by raising industrial productivity, improving export competitiveness and strengthening investment.
