Wednesday, November 4, 2026 · World · GSM News

Canada's Prime Minister's Office announced on November 4 that Prime Minister Mark Carney will travel to Ireland, the Philippines, Cambodia and China from November 11 to 19, representing Canada at four major international summits to advance the country's interests in trade, investment, culture and security. The office said the trip is intended to diversify Canada's international partnerships, increase trade and attract new investment.

In Dublin, Ireland, Carney will attend the Summit of the European Political Community. He will then travel to Manila, Philippines, to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit as Guest of the Chair. In Phnom Penh, Cambodia, he will attend the Sommet de la Francophonie to deepen ties across the French-speaking world ahead of Canada hosting the summit in 2028. Finally, he will travel to Shenzhen, China, for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting.

The Prime Minister's Office noted that the trip marks Carney's first visits to Cambodia and the Philippines since taking office, as well as his first participation in a Sommet de la Francophonie, which is held every two years.
