Alabama Man with Three Prior Felony Convictions Sentenced to 15 Years for Methamphetamine Trafficking and Firearms Offenses

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Alabama announced that Logan Chase Turner has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for his role in a drug trafficking conspiracy involving hundreds of grams of methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney Phillip W. Williams Jr. announced.
Turner, 28, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Corey L. Maze. In June 2026, Turner pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and felon in possession of a firearm.
According to the plea agreement, agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) had been investigating Turner and his drug trafficking operations since December 2025. In January 2026, the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit obtained a search warrant for Turner's residence, where officers seized drug paraphernalia, a Llama 1911 .45 caliber handgun, and more than 300 grams of methamphetamine.
Turner is prohibited from possessing a firearm because of his three prior felony convictions in 2023 and 2024 in the Circuit Court of Calhoun County: in March 2023 he was convicted of trafficking fentanyl and attempted assault, and in July 2024 of promoting prison contraband. In April 2026, he was charged as part of a Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) investigation targeting a drug-trafficking organization in east Alabama.
U.S. Attorney Williams said the defendant's criminal history did not deter him from continuing to engage in serious criminal activity, and that the 15-year sentence holds him accountable. ATF Special Agent in Charge James VanVliet said ATF will continue to work with state and local law enforcement partners to disrupt offenders like these. ATF investigated the case along with the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Allison J. Garnett prosecuted the case.
