Ohio Conservation Programs Accepting Applications: Apply by December 18 for Fiscal Year 2027 Funding Consideration

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Ohio announced on November 4 in Columbus that it is accepting applications for its conservation programs, funded through the conservation investment provided by the Working Families Tax Cuts Act.

While NRCS accepts applications year-round, interested agricultural producers in Ohio should apply by December 18 to be considered for fiscal year 2027 funding. Programs include the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP), whose Agricultural Land Easement component enables producers to protect their agricultural land from development through a permanent easement, and whose Wetland Reserve Easement component helps landowners protect, restore and enhance wetlands previously degraded by agricultural uses; the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP), which helps producers build on existing conservation efforts while strengthening their operations; and the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), which provides technical and financial resources to address resource concerns including improved water and air quality, increased soil health and reduced soil erosion.

NRCS is also providing additional nationwide financial assistance through the Regenerative Pilot Program (RPP), which enables producers to implement whole-farm regenerative practices through a single application for EQIP and CSP. Producers can also apply to participate in a Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) project; for fiscal year 2027, the Lower South Fork Clearwater River Habitat Restoration RCPP project is eligible, with applications due by September 30 for participants located in the project area.

'We know that America's producers know the land the best and are the best stewards,' said NRCS State Conservationist John Wilson in Ohio, encouraging interested producers to contact their local NRCS office. (Source: USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service)
