French Label Coperni Ceases Operations: Founders End Eight-Year Run After Dispute With Shareholder Tomorrow

Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, the co-founders of the Paris fashion label Coperni, announced in an Instagram statement on November 4 that the brand's operating company, Coperni SAS, is ceasing operations, ending the run of the Paris label they relaunched in 2018. The immediate cause is a months-long, unresolved dispute with the brand's majority shareholder and exclusive distributor, the London-based Tomorrow Ltd.
"Over the past few months, we have tried everything to preserve Coperni and find a resolution to the conflict with our shareholder and distributor, Tomorrow," the co-founders said in the statement. "After suspending invoice payments with impunity, Tomorrow has now unilaterally terminated our licensing agreement. Despite all our efforts, no solution could be found. It is with profound sadness that we announce today that Coperni SAS is ceasing operations." According to the brand, the conflict stems from sums Tomorrow owed Coperni and failed to pay.
The dispute became public step by step this year. In February 2026, Coperni pulled out of Paris Fashion Week, saying its relationship with Tomorrow had "deteriorated significantly, to the point that Coperni no longer has the means to support its development." In March, Tomorrow was sold to Progetto 11, the parent company of the Italian e-commerce firm The Level Group, and the designers' bids to retake control of their label were reportedly not accepted. In June, a Paris court granted Coperni protection and the label entered receivership; on November 4 it was placed into compulsory liquidation and ceased operations.
Meyer and Vaillant met at the Paris fashion school Mod'Art International and launched Coperni together in 2013. They served as creative directors of Courrèges in 2015 before returning to relaunch Coperni in 2018 with Tomorrow's backing. The label became known for technology-driven runway moments, including the spray-on dress created live on model Bella Hadid at its Spring 2023 show and the Air Swipe Bag made from NASA's silica aerogel nanomaterial.
"These eight years have been incredible," the co-founders wrote at the end of their statement. "We have been able to bring our ideas to life, meet unforgettable people and share moments we would never have dared to imagine when we first embarked on this journey." They signed off with "see you soon" and announced no next plans. Tomorrow also holds a majority stake in the designer brand Martine Rose, whose most recent collection production was canceled over Tomorrow's problems earlier this year before Tomorrow said it would be "regularly producing" the Fall 2026 collection.
