International Education Week 2026 Set for November 16-20: A Joint State and Education Department Initiative Marked by Universities Nationwide

The U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education announced that International Education Week (IEW) 2026 will be held from November 16 to 20. The annual initiative, launched jointly by the two departments in 2000, celebrates the benefits of international education and exchange, attracts students from around the world to study in the United States, and encourages Americans to prepare for a global environment.
Universities across the country will mark the week with their own programs. San Jose State University will hold its International Education Week celebration on November 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the 7th Street Plaza on campus. The University of Colorado Boulder, the University of New Mexico, the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of Rochester are among the schools that have published campus schedules for November 16-20.
According to the published schedules, international student and scholar services offices will host information sessions and cultural events during the week; enrolled international students can find their school's schedule and sign-up details on its international student services page.
