SACRAMENTO, California - The California Employment Development Department (EDD) issued Workforce Services Information Notice WSIN26-22 on November 4: CalJOBS, the state's job system, was upgraded to Version 25 Sapphire on November 2, 2026.

EDD said the upgrade introduces enhancements that benefit all users of the CalJOBS system. Job seekers, staff, and employers will observe aesthetic updates as well as new features designed to make CalJOBS more efficient and user-friendly.

Changes for all users include a new Program Finder that lets users perform a single occupation-based search for education and training opportunities, and an updated Labor Market Information (LMI) Profile experience with a customizable two-column layout.

Changes for individuals include a new Help Center accessible via the site header or page-level help icons, replacing previous modal pop-ups and PDF guides; a more focused My Dashboard with a Focus Library of additional views; a Dashboard Assistant built around the 'Not Sure Where to Start Questionnaire,' whose suggestions can be saved and retaken; three new modernized resume designs - Classic, Contemporary, and Executive; a new Jobs icon giving quick access to job search activities, recently viewed positions, Job Contacts, Saved Jobs, and Virtual Recruiter; split-view job search results with listings on the left and summary previews on the right; and improved Virtual Recruiter job search alerts recommended from a user's activity.

Changes for employers include SmartMatch Talent Search, which visually identifies candidates best suited to a job order using criteria such as education, occupation, or salary; Registered Apprenticeship added as a new job type; and the ability to manage interviews directly in the Job Applications Tab.

Changes for staff and administrators include an upgraded Business Intelligence Data Analytics experience, a Showcase Gallery of key analytics on the staff dashboard, reusable program blocks for Agency Defined Programs, expanded reason options in WARN Visit Tracking, customizable Quick Assist search defaults, the ability to create Rapid Response Events directly from the left navigation menu, report links updated to standard HTML hyperlinks, and a modernized Administration system matching the current CalJOBS experience.

Several training webinars conducted by the Central Office Workforce Services Division Statewide Training Unit will cover the Version 25 Sapphire changes, and staff unable to attend can access a recording on CalJOBS afterward. Training questions go to [email protected]; questions about the upgrade changes go to the CalJOBS Operations Unit at [email protected]. The notice was signed by Kimberlee Meyer, Chief of the Central Office Workforce Services Division.
