Thai Airways Flight TG663 Returns to Shanghai After Cockpit Windshield Crack Found on Boeing 787-9; No Injuries

Shanghai — Thai Airways International said in a statement on November 4 that its flight TG663, bound from Shanghai Pudong International Airport to Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport, returned to its departure airport after the crew found a crack in the left cockpit windshield shortly after takeoff. The aircraft landed safely following safety protocols, and there were no reports of injuries among passengers or crew.
TG663 had departed Shanghai at 8:08 a.m. local time on November 4, operated by a Boeing 787-9. Thai media reported that the jet circled and dumped fuel to reduce its landing weight before touching down safely at Pudong. Thai Airways said it had arranged hotel accommodation for affected passengers and crew and was coordinating with partner airlines to rebook travelers on alternative flights to Bangkok.
The airline also adjusted capacity the following day: flights TG662 and TG663 on November 5 were switched to larger aircraft to carry the transferred passengers and keep travel running smoothly. The cause of the windshield crack has not been announced, and the airline released no further details.
