Temecula Adult CERT Training Starts Nov. 6: 20 Hours Over Three Days, Certificate and Gear Backpack Included

Thursday, November 5, 2026 · California · GSM News

The City of Temecula in Riverside County, California, will hold a new session of its adult Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training from November 6 to 8 at the Margarita Recreation Center multipurpose room, 29119 Margarita Road. The course is open to residents age 18 and older; the fee is $25, and full attendance on all three days is required to graduate. Temecula runs four CERT sessions a year.

The schedule is Friday, November 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. (dinner provided); Saturday, November 7, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (lunch provided); and Sunday, November 8, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (lunch provided).

The roughly 20-hour course follows the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) curriculum across eight units: disaster preparedness, CERT organization, disaster medical operations parts one and two, disaster psychology, fire safety and utility controls, light search and rescue, and CERT and terrorism. Hands-on exercises cover fire suppression, search and rescue, cribbing and first aid.

Graduates receive a certificate of completion and a CERT backpack. The city says CERT training gives community members the basic skills to protect themselves, their families and their neighbors before professional responders arrive. Registration is available through the CERT page on the City of Temecula website.
