The Allegheny County District Attorney's Office has filed the first criminal charges in its investigation into City Hall finances during former Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey's administration, charging Emmett Miles with 29 felonies, including theft by deception, receiving stolen property and corruption, according to online court records.
District Attorney Stephen Zappala's office said the investigation is continuing and that the Miles case is its first prosecution. The office has not announced a first court date for Miles, nor specified the contracts or amounts involved, or whether more people will be charged.
The City of Pittsburgh has not commented. The case will proceed through the courts. (Source: Allegheny County District Attorney's Office)
