MDU Resources Posts Third-Quarter Results; 350-Mile Bakken East Pipeline Wins Final Investment Decision

Bismarck-based MDU Resources Group reported its 2026 third-quarter results on November 5 and reaffirmed its full-year guidance. The company also announced that its board made a final investment decision on September 30 to advance the Bakken East natural gas pipeline project of its WBI Energy subsidiary. The roughly 350-mile pipeline will run from the Bakken region of western North Dakota to near Fargo, opening a new route for Bakken gas to reach customers in the state's central and eastern areas. The company said the decision was based on customer commitments already secured and the project's strategic and economic benefits to North Dakota and the wider region. The report showed stronger earnings in the electric utility segment and progress on several strategic growth initiatives. It also disclosed that the company's North Dakota electric rate case, filed June 30, seeks $34.5 million in additional annual revenue; interim rates reflecting $26.3 million in annual revenue took effect September 1 while the case remains pending, with final rates subject to the outcome and any overcollection refundable.
