Indiana's Lincoln Party secures four years of automatic ballot access with 3.6% showing

Indiana's new Lincoln Party has secured automatic ballot access for the next four years after its secretary of state candidate, Greg Ballard, earned more than 3.6% of the vote. Under state law, a party reaching 2% qualifies to place candidates on future ballots automatically, without gathering signatures each cycle.
The Lincoln Party was founded and is chaired by Nathan Gotsch; Ballard is a former mayor of Indianapolis. Meanwhile the Libertarian candidate, Lauri Shillings, stood at about 1.9% as of November 5, putting her party's automatic access at risk. Democrat Beau Bayh won the secretary of state race, the first Democratic statewide win in Indiana since 2012.
