New Hampshire's Bow school district settles wristband case, pays $275,000 in legal fees

New Hampshire's Bow School District has settled the lawsuit over its ban on pink wristbands: the district will pay $275,000 in attorney fees, plus $17.91 to each plaintiff - a figure referencing 1791, the year the First Amendment was ratified.
U.S. District Judge Steven McAuliffe's final judgment found that the district violated the First Amendment when it barred parents from wearing the statement wristbands during a girls' soccer game in September 2024. The plaintiffs said they plan to wear the wristbands again at a November 6 playoff game.
