New Orleans water board begins emergency repair on 48-inch main; lower pressure east of St. Bernard Avenue through November 10

Thursday, November 5, 2026 · Life · GSM News

The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans announced on November 5 that crews and contractor Boh Bros would begin an emergency repair that night on a 48-inch water transmission main at Duels and Pauger streets, closing valves at about 10 p.m. to determine the extent of the repairs.

Customers are not expected to lose water service entirely, but areas east of St. Bernard Avenue will see lower-than-normal pressure, including Gentilly, Marigny, Bywater and the Lower Ninth Ward; New Orleans East may see a slight reduction. The lower-pressure conditions may last through November 10, when a linestop is scheduled to be deployed.

Residents with no water or very low pressure can call the board at 504-52-WATER (504-529-2837). (Source: Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans)
