Allstate Third-Quarter Net Income Falls to $2.05 Billion: Catastrophe Losses Climb to $1.65 Billion as Policies in Force Reach 217.6 Million

Northbrook — The Allstate Corporation, headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois, on November 4 reported third-quarter 2026 results: total revenues were $17.348 billion, up 0.5% year over year; net income applicable to common shareholders fell 44.8% to $2.05 billion, or $8.03 per diluted share; and adjusted net income declined 16.2% to $2.493 billion, or $9.76 per diluted share.
The company said earnings were pressured by sharply higher catastrophe losses, net losses on investments and derivatives, and the absence of a prior-year gain on the sale of its group health business. Catastrophe losses totaled $1.65 billion, versus $558 million a year earlier. Property-liability underwriting income fell 30.1% to $2.02 billion, and the property-liability combined ratio rose to 86.6 from 80.1. Premiums earned rose 3.8% to $15.09 billion, and net investment income was $1.18 billion.
Total policies in force across the company reached 217.6 million, up 3.9%, with property-liability policies up 3.3%. Allstate returned approximately $1.5 billion to shareholders through repurchases and dividends during the quarter. (Source: The Allstate Corporation)
