Tallulah Man Convicted by Federal Jury of Felon-in-Possession and Machinegun Charges, Faces Up to 25 Years

Jason P. Peacock, 41, of Tallulah, a city in Madison Parish, Louisiana, has been found guilty by a federal jury of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and illegal possession of a machinegun after a two-day trial before United States Chief District Judge Terry A. Doughty in Monroe. Peacock faces up to 25 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for December 2, 2026, before Judge Doughty.
According to evidence presented at trial, the case arose from a report of shots fired in Tallulah on May 31, 2025. Victims reported that Peacock, a previously convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms, had brandished a black handgun at them before firing several rounds into the air and then fleeing. Police pursued Peacock to the home of another Tallulah resident who reported that Peacock had entered her home with a gun and then retreated to the back of the house. Officers proceeded to clear the residence and Peacock then emerged from the house and surrendered.
After Peacock was in custody, the homeowner consented to a search of the residence for the firearm she had seen him carrying. Officers recovered a black Glock equipped with a machinegun conversion device hidden inside a pot in the kitchen. The homeowner confirmed that no one in the home owned a firearm of that type. At trial, prosecutors presented evidence of Peacock's recorded jail calls which established a clear timeline of events and proved Peacock's possession of the weapon beyond a reasonable doubt.
U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller for the Western District of Louisiana made the announcement. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Louisiana State Police, and the Tallulah Police Department investigated the case. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Allison Foster and J. Aaron Crawford. The U.S. Attorney's Office said the case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods.
