[Video] U.S. Spacewalk 101 Today: NASA Live Coverage as Two Astronauts Install the Final Solar Array

Thursday, November 5, 2026 · Technology · GSM News

NASA began live coverage of U.S. Spacewalk 101 on its official YouTube channel at 4 a.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, November 5. NASA astronaut Anil Menon and Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut Joshua Kutryk are scheduled to exit the International Space Station's Quest airlock at 5:30 a.m. PT (8:30 a.m. ET) to install and deploy the eighth and final International Space Station Roll-Out Solar Array (iROSA), with NASA's official channel streaming the entire spacewalk live.

The spacewalk is expected to last about six and a half hours and is the 286th in space station history. The pair will install the new array at the 3B power channel on the station's starboard truss and deploy it. Once all eight roll-out arrays are in place, the station's available power rises by up to 30 percent, from about 160 kilowatts to about 215 kilowatts, completing a power-system upgrade that began in June 2021.

It is the second spacewalk for the Kutryk-Menon pairing: on October 29 they conducted U.S. Spacewalk 100, installing the seventh array and completing preparations for this one. Inside the station, NASA flight engineers Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney will help the pair in and out of their spacesuits, monitor the excursion and operate the Canadarm2 robotic arm.

Coverage began at 4 a.m. PT (7 a.m. ET) and is streaming on NASA's official YouTube channel as well as NASA+, X, Amazon Prime and Discovery+; the spacewalk itself begins at 5:30 a.m. PT and is expected to wrap up around midday.
