Southern California Gas Prices Drop for a Fifth Straight Week, With Most Averages Below $6

The Auto Club's Weekend Gas Watch reported on November 5 that Southern California pump prices decreased rapidly for the fifth straight week, with every major Southern California metropolitan area except Bakersfield now averaging below $6 a gallon and a few stations posting prices below $5.
As of 9 a.m. on November 5, the statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline was $5.83, 11 cents lower than last week and $1.16 higher than a year ago; the national average was $4.10, down 12 cents on the week. By area, Los Angeles–Long Beach averaged $5.91, down 10 cents; San Diego $5.94, down nine cents; Santa Barbara–Santa Maria–Lompoc $5.95, down nine cents; Riverside $5.81, down 14 cents and the lowest of the region's major metros; and Bakersfield $6.01, down nine cents but still above $6.
Auto Club spokesperson Kandace Redd said that after rising in the last week of October, oil prices dropped significantly on Wednesday to their lowest levels since May, which could put further downward pressure on pump prices if they stay lower, and that wholesale Los Angeles gasoline prices also dropped significantly, which could help continue the declines at the pump.
