Kentucky Lottery Sales Hit Record $2.38 Billion; Three Counties Certified Recovery Ready, Over 30,000 Medical Cannabis Cards Approved

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear provided a Team Kentucky update on November 5 in Frankfort covering the Kentucky Lottery, Recovery Ready Communities, medical cannabis and Veterans Day.
The Kentucky Lottery broke its all-time sales record in fiscal year 2026 with $2.38 billion in sales, its 15th record-breaking year in a row. The Lottery's impact in the commonwealth totaled $419 million, used to fund college scholarships and grant programs for Kentucky students and families.
Carroll, Franklin and Jefferson counties were certified as Recovery Ready Communities, bringing Kentucky to 45 certified counties serving nearly 3.1 million Kentuckians. The governor's office said Kentucky has secured four straight years of decreases in overdose deaths, two consecutive years of recidivism decreases and two years of falling serious crime rates.
On medical cannabis, Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman announced that more than 30,000 Kentuckians have been approved for medical cannabis cards. Kentucky has 47 medical cannabis businesses up and running, including 27 dispensary facilities operating in all 11 dispensary licensing regions, and is more than halfway through its build-out of approved businesses.
Five Kentucky high school seniors were selected as 2026 U.S. Presidential Scholars, out of 161 nationwide, and the second annual Team Kentucky Food Drive runs through November 18. The governor also recognized November 11 as Veterans Day in the commonwealth.
