Anne Arundel County Woman Pleads Guilty to Filing False Tax Return Over $238,000 in Stolen Funds

Thursday, November 5, 2026 · Justice · GSM News

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced on November 5 that Kelley Ann Haley, 46, of Pasadena, in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, has pleaded guilty to filing a false Maryland income tax return. On her return, Haley failed to report more than $238,000 of stolen funds from a local athletic organization, evading more than $4,600 in state income tax.

Haley is the former treasurer of the Pasadena Buccaneers Athletic Club. From 2019 to 2024, while serving as treasurer, she stole a total of $238,452 from the organization. By willfully failing to include that stolen money on her tax return, she filed a false return, evading a tax due of $4,625.69. The tax fraud case was investigated by the Maryland Office of the Comptroller and prosecuted by the Attorney General's Fraud and Corruption Unit; the theft case was led by the Anne Arundel County Police Department and prosecuted by the Anne Arundel County State's Attorney's Office.

On October 30, 2026, Haley pleaded guilty before Judge Stacy W. McCormack in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County to willfully filing a false income tax return in the tax fraud case, as well as felony theft scheme over $100,000 in the theft case. She will be sentenced in both cases on December 17, 2026. The unpaid taxes have been assessed against her by the Comptroller's Office.
