Minnesota Third Judicial District Judgeship Falls Vacant: Applications Due by 4 p.m. on November 23

The Minnesota Commission on Judicial Selection announced on November 5 that a vacancy has opened in the state's Third Judicial District. The vacancy will occur upon the retirement of Judge Karen R. Duncan, and the seat will be chambered in Faribault, in Rice County, Minnesota.
The application process is now open. The commission says it is searching for fair, experienced and civic-minded individuals to serve on the bench. By statute, the commission will consider integrity, maturity, health (if job related), judicial temperament, legal knowledge, ability, experience and community service, and it is seeking applicants who reflect Minnesota's full diversity.
Individuals wishing to apply may request an application from the Office of the Governor and Lt. Governor by email at [email protected]. Application materials are due by 4:00 p.m. on November 23 and should be addressed to the chair of the commission, Erin Sindberg Porter. The commission expects to hold interviews in December, and the judges of the Third Judicial District have offered to provide informational interviews to prospective applicants.
