Murrieta Man Arrested on Suspicion of Sexually Assaulting Juveniles He Met on Social Media

The Murrieta Police Department, in Riverside County, California, announced on November 5 the arrest of Reece Thomas Kennedy, a 23-year-old Murrieta resident, on suspicion of sexually assaulting juvenile females whom investigators say he contacted through social media.
Police said that on September 2, 2026, the department received a report that a 23-year-old man had sexually assaulted a juvenile female in July 2026. Detectives investigated and obtained an arrest warrant for Kennedy. In the early morning hours of November 4, officers found Kennedy in his vehicle, parked along a roadway in an unincorporated area of Riverside County near Murrieta, and took him into custody. He was found with a second juvenile female who had not previously been identified in the investigation, and detectives determined that Kennedy allegedly had sexual contact with her shortly before officers arrived. The juvenile was safely reunited with her parents.
Investigators believe Kennedy used social media to contact both juveniles and arrange to meet them. Kennedy was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on charges including forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, sexual penetration of a person under 16, oral copulation with a person under 16, and contacting a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense.
The investigation remains ongoing. All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Ferrulli at (951) 461-6404, or provide information anonymously through the department's website.
