Seattle Man Loses $3.9M Bankruptcy Discharge After Concealing Inheritance and Business Interest

Thursday, November 5, 2026 · Justice · GSM News

The Justice Department announced on November 5 that its U.S. Trustee Program (USTP) prevailed at trial against a Seattle, Washington man who concealed an inheritance and his interest in a business, revoking his bankruptcy discharge of more than $3.9 million.

According to the Department, the man concealed inheritance rights and a business interest during his bankruptcy case. The USTP sued, and after trial the court revoked the discharge of more than $3.9 million in debts.

The U.S. Trustee Program is the Justice Department component that oversees the integrity of the bankruptcy system, with trustees across the nation's bankruptcy districts who pursue fraud and abuse.
