Follow-Up: Fox News Says Vance Is Courting Disaffected Trump Voters Into a 'New Right' Alliance Ahead of 2028

Washington — Vice President JD Vance is seeking to forge a new political alliance with disaffected Trump voters ahead of the 2028 election cycle, Fox News Digital reported exclusively on November 5, citing multiple people familiar with the matter. In the wake of the Republican Party's brutal midterm defeat on November 3, Vance took control of his own messaging from Wednesday morning, breaking with President Donald Trump on foreign policy and America's relationship with Israel, the report said.
A source familiar with post-election developments told Fox News Digital that a White House meeting on Wednesday morning was aimed at aligning administration officials on post-midterm messaging; a second source described it as a regular senior staff meeting. After the meeting, Vance amplified on X an analysis by a pollster laying out four tasks that would bring voters back to the Republican Party: end the war in Iran, focus on the cost of living and inflation, put America first, and change America's relationship with Israel. 'The reason we lost is the war,' Vance wrote. 'The president himself said so last night.'
A Trump administration official told Fox News Digital that the four tasks are Vance's rallying cry to the 'new right' — a coalition that aligns with the president's original 'America First' movement of staying out of foreign conflicts, making America an affordable place to raise families and closing the borders, but whose voters also believe Trump is too aligned with Israel on foreign policy. The official stressed that the message is not a separation from Trump, but a signal to Republicans who support Trump's platform yet feel betrayed on foreign policy: 'Vance is our guy.'
Vance is widely considered a top Republican presidential candidate for 2028, alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The White House did not return Fox News Digital's request for comment on the meeting or on Vance's post-election messaging.
