Philadelphia's 2026 Fall Leaf Recycling Program Runs November 2 to December 19

The Philadelphia Sanitation Department's 2026 Fall Leaf Recycling Program in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, began November 2 and runs through December 19. Over seven weeks, collected leaves are composted for uses such as garden fertilizer. The city published the schedule on November 2.
Mechanical collection serves leaf-heavy neighborhoods on a weekly rotation: Oak Lane and Frankford November 2-6, the West November 9-13, the Northeast November 16-27 in two rounds, the South November 30-December 4, and the Northwest December 7-18 in two rounds. Residents in mechanical areas should rake leaves to the curb by 7 a.m. on their collection day and move vehicles off the street where possible; crews visit each route only once. There is no leaf collection on city-observed holidays.
Bagged leaves can be dropped at the city's six Sanitation Convenience Centers, Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and at 15 citywide sites on five Saturdays — November 7 and 21 and December 5, 12 and 19 — from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bags must be biodegradable paper, at most 40 pounds each; bagged or containerized leaves set out at the curb are collected as trash, not recycling. Residents can check their block's schedule at phila.gov/leaf-recycling or call 311.
