Columbus Firefighter Applications Open November 1-30, Eligible List Due April 2027
The Columbus Division of Fire in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio, is accepting firefighter applications from November 1 to 30, filed online through the Civil Service Commission, according to the city's firefighter recruitment FAQ.
The cycle continues with written and FOAM oral assessment exams in December 2026 to January 2027, scoring in January to February 2027, the Firefighter Mile physical test in February to March 2027, and an eligible list published in April 2027 that stays valid for at least two years.
Minimum qualifications are age 17 and a half or older, U.S. citizenship, a valid driver's license and a high school diploma or GED by the time of hire. There is no maximum age and no fire or EMS experience is required; qualified military veterans receive preference points.
