LA Opera Stages Verdi's Nabucco February 27 to March 21, 2027
LA Opera presents Giuseppe Verdi's Nabucco at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, 135 North Grand Avenue in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, opening Saturday, February 27, 2027, at 7:30 p.m., with further performances March 7 at 2:00 p.m., March 10, 13 and 18 at 7:30 p.m., and March 21 at 2:00 p.m. Incoming Music Director Domingo Hindoyan conducts.
The opera that launched Verdi to fame follows King Nebuchadnezzar's rampage against Jerusalem and his daughter Abigaille's seizure of the crown. Director and designer Thaddeus Strassberger's production transports the hanging gardens of Babylon to the gilded theaters of Milan. Baritone Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar makes his LA debut in the title role opposite Angela Meade as Abigaille. Sung in Italian with English subtitles, the opera runs about two hours and 45 minutes including two intermissions.
