At the Metropolitan Opera House, 30 Lincoln Center Plaza, New York, NY 10023, in New York City, New York County, New York State, the Metropolitan Opera's holiday presentation of Mozart's The Magic Flute opens December 11 at 7 p.m. and runs through January 2, 2027.
Julie Taymor's abridged English-language production, in J.D. McClatchy's translation, runs about 90 minutes without intermission, telling Mozart's fairy-tale adventure with puppetry and spectacle. Nicholas Carter and Patrick Furrer share conducting duties, and Rolando Villazón and Gordon Bintner share Papageno. Holiday open houses precede the December 13 and 19 matinees, and the December 26 noon performance is a relaxed performance.
Tickets are available at metopera.org; performance times and prices are listed on the official calendar.
