TOPEKA, Kan. — The Wall Map of Europe, a large mural painted in 1928 by Kansas artist John Steuart Curry, was unveiled on November 6 at the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka, as the centerpiece of the new exhibition The Modern Age of Adventure.

The mural, 16 feet wide and 10 feet high, depicts the map of Europe after the First World War and the Russian Revolution, and was donated to the museum by the Burr Living Trust of Pennsylvania. The unveiling took place at a free public reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on November 6 at the museum, located at 6425 SW Sixth Avenue. The new exhibition opened alongside the reception, with the formal program beginning at 5 p.m. and remarks from Kansas Historical Society executive director Patrick Zollner and museum registrar Nikela Zimmerman.

Curry is best known for his murals inside the Kansas Statehouse, and this marks another homecoming of an original Curry work in Topeka.
