Rep. Ted Lieu Announces Run for House Democratic Caucus Chair, Poised to Become Highest-Ranking Asian American in House History
CALIFORNIA — Rep. Ted Lieu of California wrote to colleagues on Thursday, November 5, announcing his run for chair of the House Democratic Caucus.
Lieu currently serves as vice chair of the caucus and is so far the only candidate for the post. "I am now running for Chair of the Caucus because I want to work with all of you to seize the opportunity the American people just gave us," he wrote.
If elected, he would become the highest-ranking Asian American in the history of the House of Representatives. Lieu was elected caucus vice chair in 2022, the first Asian American to hold that position.
