U.S. Labor Department Sues Lubbock Bar Logie's Over Tips and Overtime for More Than 130 Workers

LUBBOCK, Texas — The U.S. Department of Labor has sued Logie's on Overton, a Lubbock bar, accusing it of withholding tips and overtime pay from more than 130 employees, with some workers paid below the federal minimum wage. According to court filings obtained by local media, the bar is located at 2323 Mac Davis Lane.
The complaint says Logie's required employees to share tips with managers or supervisors, failed to pay the required 1.5 times rate for hours worked beyond 40 per week, and kept inaccurate tip records. It also says management refused to provide investigators with tip distribution sheets and tried to prevent employees from speaking with investigators from the department's Wage and Hour Division.
The Labor Department is seeking back wages and damages covering the period from October 29, 2024, through trial. Lubbock is the hub of the South Plains region of northwest Texas. The suit is part of the department's enforcement against wage violations in the restaurant industry; the case is now in litigation and the court has not yet ruled.
