Xi'an Famous Foods Opens Its First Boston Store at 255 Washington Street After Soft Opening

Boston, Massachusetts — Xi'an Famous Foods, the Shaanxi snack chain that originated in Flushing, New York, has opened its first permanent Boston store at 255 Washington Street in Downtown Crossing, following a soft opening in late October. A grand-opening event is set for early November, with the exact date not yet published, and the store will offer promotions and free dishes.
The store occupies the former b.good location and has an open kitchen serving hand-pulled noodles, liangpi cold noodles, hot-and-sour dumplings, roujiamo pork buns and cumin lamb buns, open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Xi'an Famous Foods began in 2005 as a stall run by David Wang in a Flushing, Queens mall and became known for its chili oil; it is now led by his son, CEO Jason Wang. Wang told The Boston Globe that the Boston store is an important step for the brand outside New York and that more locations are planned for the Boston area. The brand previously operated only a delivery kitchen in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood.
