Two skydivers were fatally injured on Friday morning, November 6, in Lake Elsinore, a city in Riverside County, California, in what officials described as an "air emergency."

Lieutenant Deirdre Vickers, a spokesperson for the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, said deputies responded at 11:47 a.m. to the 20000 block of Cereal Street after a report of the emergency. When deputies arrived, the two skydivers were on the ground receiving medical aid, and both had suffered major traumatic injuries.

Firefighters from Cal Fire and the Riverside County Fire Department also responded. Both skydivers were taken by ambulance to a local hospital in critical condition, where they were later pronounced deceased, according to Vickers.

The Sheriff's Office said the identities of the two people who died have not been released, it is not immediately clear how they were injured, and the investigation is ongoing, with no further details available at this time. The incident is still developing.
