Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun announced at a regular press conference in Beijing on November 6, 2026, that, as agreed by China and Canada, the second China-Canada Economic and Financial Strategic Dialogue will be held in Canada on November 9.

He Lifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, is the Chinese lead for the dialogue. The Canadian leads are Minister of Finance François-Philippe Champagne and Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu. The three will co-chair the dialogue.

The China-Canada Economic and Financial Strategic Dialogue is a high-level communication mechanism between the two countries in the economic and financial fields. The announcement was made at the start of the Foreign Ministry's regular press conference, and the agenda and outcomes are expected to be released after the November 9 meeting.

Canada is a close economic partner of the United States, and China and Canada have maintained engagement on trade issues including market access. As GSM previously reported, Canada and China have agreed to extend market access arrangements through 2028, covering products including canola meal, peas, lobster and crab.
