The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of South Dakota announced that a Minneapolis, Minnesota man, formerly of Enemy Swim, South Dakota, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for abusive sexual contact with a child under the age of 12. The sentencing took place on November 2, 2026, in Aberdeen, in Brown County, South Dakota.

Roshaun Christian Pomani, age 26, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Charles B. Kornmann to 15 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100. Upon release from federal prison, Pomani must register as a sex offender.

The conviction stemmed from incidents between January 6, 2015, and January 5, 2016, when Pomani knowingly engaged in sexual contact with a victim who had not yet attained the age of 12 while they were both living in tribal housing near Enemy Swim.

Pomani was indicted by a federal grand jury in March 2024 and pleaded guilty on August 17, 2026. The case was investigated by Sisseton-Wahpeton Law Enforcement and the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth A. Ebert-Webb prosecuted the case.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse, and to identify and rescue victims. Pomani was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
