John Steuart Curry's 1928 Wall Map of Europe Unveiled at Kansas Museum of History

A large mural painted in 1928 by Kansas artist John Steuart Curry, the Wall Map of Europe, was unveiled on November 6 at the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka, becoming the centrepiece of the museum's new exhibition The Way of the Modern Adventurers. The mural, 16 feet wide and 10 feet tall, depicts Europe after the First World War and the Russian Revolution, and was donated to the museum by Pennsylvania's Burr Living Trust.
The unveiling took place at a free public reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on November 6 at the museum, 6425 SW Sixth Avenue, with the new exhibition opening the same evening and the formal programme beginning at 5 p.m. Kansas Historical Society executive director Patrick Zollner and museum collections manager Nikaela Zimmerman both spoke. Curry is best known for his murals inside the Kansas State Capitol; Topeka is now home to another of his original works.
