Ohio Directs More Than $55 Million in Federal Funds to Rural Health Care

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced this week that more than $55 million in federal Rural Health Transformation (RTH) Program awards will improve health care accessibility for children and families in rural Ohio.
The Governor's Office said the Ohio Department of Health will invest the funds in three areas: expanding the OhioSEE vision program statewide, launching the new OhioDENTAL program, and expanding school-based health centers.
"The Rural Health Transformation Program has been instrumental in helping us to bring critical healthcare services to many more Ohioans," DeWine said. "I am so pleased to see our successful OhioSEE program expand statewide. These funds will also expand school-based health centers and increase much-needed access to dental services." Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz said the program's formula is "state innovation backed by federal funds," and that CMS is excited to partner with states to build stronger, more resilient rural health systems.
