Sacramento Superior Court Hosts Adoption Day, Finalising Adoptions for Foster Children

Sacramento Superior Court in Sacramento, Sacramento County, California, held its Adoption Day at the Juvenile Courthouse on November 6, finalising and celebrating adoptions of children from the foster care system. According to the court's November 3 news release, Adoption Day aims to raise public awareness of the need for adoptive parents and to help prospective parents understand the adoption process.
Judges and court staff were joined by community partners including the Department of Child, Family and Adult Services, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), the Parent Cooperative, the Sheriff's Youth Services Unit, Sacramento Public Library, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Lend A Heart, Wayfinder, the 501st Legion and Build A Sundae. The festivities included scheduled adoption proceedings, refreshments and activities for children. Because adoption proceedings are confidential, the event was not open to the public or the media. Adoption Day in Sacramento County is a long-running collaboration between the court and community agencies.
