Wyoming Adopts 2027 State Wildlife Action Plan Listing 308 Species for Conservation

The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission approved the final draft of the state's 2027 State Wildlife Action Plan on November 5, the first day of its November meeting in Cody, Park County. The plan, revised every 10 years, summarises the status of wildlife and fish across the state, provides a blueprint for conserving species and habitats, and keeps Wyoming eligible for federal State and Tribal Wildlife Grants; since the programme began in 2002, the plan has helped put $13 million into 185 conservation projects statewide.
The 2027 plan lists plants as species of greatest conservation need for the first time; animals and plants together total 308 listed species, with 20 animal species added and 17 removed as knowledge of their conservation status improved. The plan now goes to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for final approval.
