Kansas Governor's Race Count Update: Holscher Leads by Nearly 7,300 Votes

Saturday, November 7, 2026 · States · GSM News

TOPEKA, Shawnee County, Kansas - The latest count released by the Kansas Secretary of State's office on November 6 shows Democratic state Sen. Cindy Holscher leading Republican state Sen. Ty Masterson by nearly 7,300 votes in the governor's race, widening her election-night margin of 5,557 votes. November 6 was the deadline for county election offices to receive mail ballots, and as the final tallies come in, five races statewide remain undecided, including state House seats in Districts 27, 40 and 117. Holscher has declared victory, thanked voters in her victory speech and said she is assembling a transition team ahead of her January inauguration. Outgoing Gov. Laura Kelly congratulated her, addressed her as governor-elect and promised an orderly transfer of power. Masterson has not conceded and is still awaiting the final count. Holscher will become Kansas' next governor when she takes office in January. The Secretary of State's office said the results become official only after each county completes its canvass.
